Fall camp preview: Offensive line
Over the next couple of weeks, PowerMizzou.com will get Tiger fans set for fall camp with an in-depth breakdown at every position. We will outline the likely starters headed into fall camp, highlight a few backups who could challenge for a job, and set the scene with the major camp storylines at each spot. This will be a special free series on the site, every day for the next ten days. Today, we look at the offensive line:
The Starters: Elvis Fisher and Dan Hoch are established at the tackles with Tim Barnes anchoring things at center. Jayson Palmgren and Austin Wuebbels enter camp as the starters at guard, but will have a fight on their hands to hold down those spots.
The Backups: Jack Meiners and Justin Britt enter their second seasons on campus and will see meaningful snaps. Either is capable of grabbing a starting spot at guard, or providing depth at tackle and guard. Mark Hill and Travis Ruth should also provide depth and could see some time. In addition, freshmen Nick Demien and Mitch Morse will be worth watching during the month of August.
The Top Story: What happens at guard? Missouri was plagued by penalties at both spots much of last season and lost three-year starter Kurtis Gregory. Meiners and Britt give the coaching staff some options and it will be interesting to see what shakes out. In addition, is Fisher back to full strength after missing all of spring ball with an injury?
