Meanwhile, at NCAA HQ, the NCAA is recommending a set of new rules for baseball that would quicken the pace of the game.





Arizona

In football, the Wildcats received a verbal commitment from defensive lineman Reggie Gilbert.



WSU

In football, linebacker Andre Barrington will miss the 2010 season due to academic reasons while defensive lineman Dan Spitz will be suspended for the first nine games of the season for use of a banned, controlled substance.

In men's golf, Wazzu will host a 2013 NCAA Regional.



Oregon

In administration, Rob Mullens was named as the Ducks' new athletic director.



Oregon State

In women's hoop, the Beavers hired Mark Campbell as an assistant coach.



UCLA

In women's swimming, Kelli Stein was hired as an assistant coach.



Stanford

In volleyball, the Cardinal were one of 94 teams to be recognized for academic achievement by the AVCA [American Volleyball Coaches Association].



California

In football, linebacker recruit Chris Martin has elected to transfer to Florida.



Arizona State

In football, the Sun Devils received a verbal commitment from defensive lineman Matt Ramondo.



Washington

In football, tight end Kavario Middleton has been dismissed from the team due to a team rules violation.



USC

In administration, Pat Haden was named as athletic director.
