Moore Named to Walter Camp Watch List
BOISE, Idaho - The Walter Camp Football Foundation announced its
Player of the Year watch list for the 2010 season, which includes
Boise State quarterback Kellen Moore as one of 30 players recognized
by the foundation heading into this fall. Moore is one of 10
quarterbacks on the watch list.
The Walter Camp Player of the Year Award honors the top NCAA Football
Bowl Subdivision player each season. The award, which is the fourth
oldest of any individual college football accolade, is voted on by the
120 NCAA FBS head coaches and sports information directors. The 2010
winner will be announced on the 6 p.m. edition of ESPN SportsCenter on
Dec. 9 (Thursday). Attached is the complete Walter Camp watch list.
Moore (6-0, 191), a junior from Prosser, Wash. (Prosser HS), is coming
off one of the best seasons of any quarterback in Boise State history.
He made both national and school history, while helping to lead the
Broncos to a perfect 14-0 season and a 17-10 win over TCU in the
Tostitos Fiesta Bowl.
He finished his sophomore campaign with 3,536 passing yards having
completed 64.3 percent of his passes (277-of-431). Most impressively,
however, Moore set the NCAA single season record for lowest percentage
of passes had intercepted at 0.69 percent (3 of 431). He also broke
the Boise State single season record for touchdown throws (39). Moore
finished the season ranked second in the nation in both pass
efficiency rating (161.65) and touchdown passes.
Following all his success in 2009, Moore was honored as a first-team
All-American by ESPN.com, SI.com and CBSSports.com. He was also voted
third-team All-American by the Associated Press after being named
Western Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Year.
This marks the third preseason watch list that Moore has been named to
this fall, as he was also recognized on the Manning Award and Davey
O'Brien Award watch lists. Both the Manning and O'Brien Awards
recognize the top quarterback in college football each season.
Moore and the Broncos have officially started fall camp and are
preparing for kick-off to the 2010 season. Boise State, which is
ranked No. 5 in the Preseason USA Today Coaches' Poll, opens the
season with a highly anticipated match-up against No. 6 Virginia Tech.
The Broncos and Hokies will meet Sept. 6 (Monday) at Fed Ex Field in
Landover, M.D. The game, which will air on ESPN, is set to kick-off at
8 p.m. (EST).
