Brantley back in the Hot 11

This is the GatorBait.net Hot 11. Marty Cohen, Thomas Goldkamp, Mike Hodge, Keith Niebuhr and Mark Wheeler have reviewed the first four games of the football season to vote on this edition of the Hot 11. It consists of the 11 most valuable players, in our opinion, to this point in the season. Each member votes on a top 11, then points are awarded on a sliding scale: 1st place vote = 11 points, 2nd place = 10 points, etc... (Total points and 1st place votes in parenthesis).
1. Ahmad Black (50/3) Position: Safety
Last Week: #1
Season Totals: Leads team with 30 tackles (21 solo). 2 1/2 TFL. 3 interceptions for 42 return yards.
Comment: He not only remains at the top, he picked up two more first place votes. He has been by far the most consistent player on the team through the first four games of the season.

2. Jeff Demps (46/1) Position: Running back
Last Week: #2
Season Totals: 53-carries for 367 yards (6.9) and 2 touchdowns rushing. 11 catches for 61 yards (5.5). 8 kick returns for 260 yards (32.5). 688 all-purpose yards.
Comment: Despite being limited with a foot sprain, Demps holds down the No. 2 spot for the second week in a row. He did however lose two first place votes.

3. Marcus Gilbert (39/1) Position: Offensive tackle
Last Week: #4
Season Totals:A starter on a Florida offensive line that has given up but 2 sacks all season.
Comment: After starting the season out on the left side in place of Xavier Nixon, Gilbert moved back to the right side last week, but the move was short lived as he is now the permanent starter at left tackle once again.

4. Mike Pouncey (37) Position: Center
Last Week: #5
Season Totals: A starter on a Florida offensive line that has given up but 2 sacks all season.
Comment: He has not only eliminated his bad snaps, but he once again graded out as a offensive champion.

5. Janoris Jenkins (35) Position: Cornerback
Last Week: #3
Season Totals: 23 tackles (12 solo) 2 TFL. 1 sack. 2 Interceptions for 68 return yards and 1 touchdown. 5 pass breakups and 1 quarterback hurry.
Comment: He continues his fall down the rankings, moving down one spot for the second week in a row. It's hard to put up impressive numbers when opponents avoid throwing your way.

6. Jaye Howard (21) Position: Defensive tackle
Last Week: tied for #6
Season Totals: 11 tackles (7 solo). 3 1/2 TFL. Leads team with 2 sacks.
Comment: He awoke from a two game slumber to have a dominating performance in the win over Kentucky.

7. Jon Bostic (15) Position: Linebacker
Last Week: #8
Season Totals: Third on the team with 22 tackles (11 solo). 3 interceptions for 9 return yards. 1 quarterback hurry.
Comment: After recording yet another interception, he moves up for the second straight week.

8. Trey Burton (20) Position: Athlete
Last Week: NR
Season Totals: 1-of-1 (100%) for 42 yards passing the ball. 8 catches for 44 yards (5.5) and 1 touchdown receiving. 11 carries for 55 yards and 7 touchdowns rushing.
Comment: He has eight touchdowns on only 19 touches through four games. Enough said...

9. John Brantley (18) Position: Quarterback
Last Week: NR
Season Totals: 73-of-114 (64%) for 700 yards, 6 touchdowns and 1 interception.
Comment: Brantley reappears on the Hot 11 after falling off last week. He is looking more and more comfortable as the leader of the UF offense, and it is beginning to show in his stats.

10. Carl Moore (16) Position: Wide receiver
Last Week: Tied for #6
Season Totals: 11 catches for 138 yards (12.5) and 1 touchdown.
Comment: His numbers aren't spectacular, but he has made clutch catch after clutch catch for the Gators. And now this past week, he actually added some yards after the catch.

11. Maurice Hurt (13) Position: Offensive line
Last Week: Tied for #9
Season Totals: A starter on a Florida offensive line that has given up but 2 sacks all season.
Comment: He continues to have a surprisingly good senior season, grading out as an offensive champion once again. His move down has to do with other players performing well rather than his performing badly.

OTHERS RECEIVING VOTES: Receiver Deonte Thompson, cornerback Jeremy Brown, offensive guard Carl Johnson, defensive end Justin Trattou and linebacker A.J. Jones
