Tigers struggle but survive in Cancun semis
Mike Dixon Jr. scored a career-high 17 points and dished six assists to lead Missouri to a 72-62 win over Wyoming in the semifinals of the 2010 Cancun Challenge on Tuesday.
Dixon scored 10 of his tallies in the second half, which saw Missouri open the second frame with a 15-point advantage (35-20). An advantage of nine free throw makes for Wyoming allowed the Cowboys to stay in the contest, but timely shooting from Laurence Bowers and Dixon helped the Tigers to pull away late and improve to 3-0.
Mizzou had nine different players score in the contest, including junior college transfer Ricardo Ratliffe who dropped in eight points and a career-high 12 rebounds. Bowers used eight second-half points to top double figures and Kim English recorded 11 points, seven rebounds and five assists.
Missouri returns to action on Wednesday vs. La Salle. Game time in Cancun is slated for 8:30 p.m. CT.
