Accolades pouring in for Kiehl Frazier

Shiloh Christian quarterback Kiehl Frazier has seen multiple accolades come his way recently, but he may have picked up his biggest to date when he was named the USA Today National Offensive Player of the Year Wednesday afternoon.

Frazier is 6-3, 215, and is committed to the Auburn Tigers.

The article from the USA Today gave the following reasons for naming Frazier their player of the year: He led his team to three consecutive Class 4A State Championships, was named MVP for the state championship game three years in a row, and completed 63% of his passes for 2,975 yards and 42 touchdowns. He also ran for 1,164 yards and 22 touchdowns.

According to the USA Today: The All-USA high school football team was chosen by USA TODAY's Jim Halley in consultation with high school coaches and recruiting analysts, including Tom Lemming of CBS College Sports and Barry Every of Rivals.com.

Frazier was also named ArkansasVarsity.com's Mr. Football for 2010. He sat down with ArkansasVarsity.com to give his thoughts on his recent accolades.

"It just feels awesome to be named the USA Today offensive player of the year." Frazier said. "They let me know this afternoon about five or six o-clock. It is such a great accomplishment and I'm very proud of it. They said this is the first time two players from the same town in American have been named offensive player of the year."

The other player from Springdale to receive this award was former Springdale stand-out Mitch Mustain.

Frazier also commented on his high school career at Shiloh Christian.

"I had an amazing career." he said. "I really had a great time playing at Shiloh, and it was a special time in my life that I will always remember. There are not many people who can say they won three state championships and three state championship MVP awards during their high school career, so I'm very fortunate to have had the career I had."

Frazier also gave his thoughts on being named ArkansasVarsity.com's Mr. Football for 2010.

"I absolutely loved being named Mr. Football for Arkansas." Frazier said. "There are so many great football players in Arkansas who have stood out, and it just felt really good to get some love from a media outlet in my home state."

Frazier's high school coach Josh Floyd also gave his thoughts on all of the recent accomplishments his quarterback has received.

"I think it is a huge honor that he was named USA Today's offensive player of the year." Floyd said. "He is very deserving of everything that he has received. We was happy that he was named Mr. Football by ArkansasVarsity.com also because it was good to see someone from Arkansas show him some love. As a coach, you sometimes take for granted that you have a special player like him for three years, but you are also proud of the accomplishments he earned and the championships he helped us to win."

As previously stated, Frazier is committed to play college football for the Auburn Tigers. He spoke a bit about how he is preparing to go to that next level.

"I'm just hitting the weight room and lifting a lot." Frazier said. "I'm working more on my footwork and my accuracy as a passer. I'm just working on everything I've got to work on to ready myself for the SEC and what it takes to be a quarterback. If Cam Newton leaves, then there is a chance I will get some playing time next year, so I just want to be ready."
