Heels No. 1, put three on All-ACC

CHARLOTTE--- North Carolina has placed three players on the Atlantic Coast Conference's preseason all-league team in the Operation Basketball event, which was held Wednesday at the downtown Ritz Carlton.

In addition, the Tar Heels, widely considered to be the preseason No. 1 favorite, earned 57 out of a possible 59 votes for the ACC regular season title. Duke received the other two votes.

Sophomore Harrison Barnes was a near-unanimous choice for Preseason Player of the Year, receiving 57 out of a possible 59 votes. The only other two votes were given to junior forward John Henson.

Both Barnes and Henson made the team, as well as senior center Tyler Zeller, who received 46 votes for the All-ACC preseason squad.

Barnes was the only unanimous selection to the first team with 59 votes, while Barnes earned 47 votes to Zeller's 46. The trio of UNC players got the three most votes.

The other players named to the All-ACC Preseason team includes Malcolm Grant of Miami (32 votes), Seth Curry of Duke (20 votes), and Mike Scott of Virginia (20 votes).

Duke's Austin Rivers was named the league's preseason Rookie of the Year, receiving 57 out of a possible 59 votes. UNC newcomer James Michael McAdoo received a single vote for Rookie of the Year, as did Nick Faust of Maryland.
