Desrosiers and Fields to transfer

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest head coach Jeff Bzdelik announced on Friday that sophomore center Carson Desrosiers and freshman guard Anthony Fields have decided to leave Wake Forest University and the Demon Deacon basketball program.

Desrosiers and Fields will transfer from Wake Forest following the conclusion of the spring semester.

"Anthony and Carson are first and foremost, outstanding young men," Bzdelik said. "Our entire coaching staff truly appreciates their contributions to the program and wish them nothing but the best in their future endeavors."

Desrosiers played in all 31 games with 16 starts this past season. The 7-0 center from Windham, N.H. averaged 4.8 points, 4.4 rebounds and 1.9 blocks per game. In 62 career games, Desrosiers averaged 4.4 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.8 blocks per game.

"I've enjoyed all the support provided to me by the coaches, the staff, fans and my teammates," said Desrosiers. "I'll be completing my semester academic requirements and then see what the future has to offer. I'd like to thank Wake Forest for the opportunity to be a part of your family. I wish the program all the best in the years to come."

Fields, a 6-0 point guard, played in 24 games off the bench in his only season with the Deacons. A native of Detroit who played on the prep level at Quality Education Academy in Winston-Salem, Fields averaged 1.0 points and 1.0 assists per game in 2011-12.

"I enjoyed my time at Wake Forest and I wish the players and the coaches all the best," said Fields. "I am thankful for the opportunity given to me at Wake Forest but it's a family decision to pursue my career at another school."
