It took some time for Virginia Tech to get on track. Call it a hangover from the season-opener, five days in between games or just not being in sync, but the Hokies were slow early on.
Virginia Tech rebounded midway through the first half and did enough to push to a 42-7 win over Austin Peay.
The Hokies' offense took nearly all of the first half to get rolling, as freshman running back J.C. Coleman fumbled on Virginia Tech's first possession of the game. Junior quarterback Logan Thomas was also stopped in the red zone on fourth and one in the first quarter.
But there were positives as well. The Hokies had 10 receivers make a reception, while seven running backs carried the ball. Junior Tony Gregory even scored a late touchdown.
After the game, publisher Jason Stamm and senior writer Doug Bowman recapped the game on Worsham Field.
