Mack Brown discusses suspensions

Mack Brown announced Friday that two Texas football players have been suspended for breaking team rules.

"As has been reported, we had a couple young men that broke team rules last night," Brown said. "They have been suspended from the team and will be sent home. They will not be available for the game."

Brown would not address questions from the media regarding the suspension, nor would he release the names of the athletes in question.

Orangebloods.com has since confirmed the two players suspended and sent home from the Alamo Bowl for breaking team rules are junior LB Jordan Hicks and junior backup QB Case McCoy.

Sources said McCoy and Hicks were suspended for a violating an 11 pm curfew two nights before the Alamo Bowl against Oregon State.

KENS-TV in San Antonio reported Friday morning that police are investigating an accusation from a 21-year-old woman that she was sexually assaulted in her hotel room by two Texas football players between 2 am and 2:40 am Friday.

Police officials told Orangebloods.com the suspects have been interviewed and have been cooperative.

As of Friday afternoon, no arrests had been made and no charges had been filed in the case.

According to a police report, the woman said when asked what happened, "I don't exactly remember."

The police investigator detected a strong odor of alcohol on the breath of the woman, who admitted to drinking a martini, a shot of tequila, a sour apple shot as well as a vodka and Red Bull shot.

According to the police report, the woman went with the two suspects from a club to her hotel bar and "then brought both back to her hotel room."

The police report does not mention any struggle in the hotel room, just that one of the suspects engaged her in a sexual act while the other watched.

The police investigator noted a bruise on the woman's right knee and left bicep.

According to the police report, the woman was transported to the Methodist Specialty Transplant Hospital where she was seen by a SANE nurse.

The two suspects were also transported to the Methodist Specialty Transplant Hospital where they were seen by a SANE nurse, the police report said.

McCoy started in the Longhorns 42-24 loss at Kansas State in place of sophomore quarterback David Ash, who was nursing a rib injury. Texas named senior punter Alex King the emergency backup quarterback for the Kansas State game to protect the redshirts of freshmen quarterbacks Connor Brewer and Jalen Overstreet.

King is expected to be the backup plan again for Saturday.

Hicks has not played in a game for the Longhorns since his hip injury against Ole Miss. In November, Mack Brown said Texas would seek a medical redshirt for Hicks at the end of the season.
