Rewind: LSU 7, Texas A&M 4

Sean McMullen had four hits and drove in three runs as LSU defeated Texas A&M 7-4 in the resumption of their suspended game Saturday morning at Blue Bell Park in College Station.

HOW THEY SCORED
LSU second inning - Raph Rhymes and Christian Ibarra singled. Ty Ross bunted the runners up to second and third. JaCoby Jones singled home Rhymes. Ibarra scored on Andrew Stevenson's squeeze bunt. Jones, who advanced to second on Stevenson's bunt, scored on McMullen's double. LSU 3, TEXAS A&M 0

LSU fourth inning - With two out, Jones singled and Stevenson walked. McMullen singled home Jones. Jared Foster singled home Stevenson. After Alex Bregman walked, McMullen scored on a passed ball by Troy Stein. LSU 6, TEXAS A&M 0

LSU sixth inning - With one out, Stevenson singled. McMullen brought home Stevenson with a double. LSU 7, TEXAS A&M 0

Texas A&M sixth inning - Krey Bratsen singled and went to second on a single by Jace Statum. Mikey Reynolds forced Bratsen at third base. A throwing by Ibarra on the play allowed Statum to reach third and Reynolds to go to second. Blake Allemand singled home both Statum and Reynolds. LSU 7, TEXAS A&M 2

Texas A&M seventh inning - Daniel Mengden hit a solo home run over the leftfield fence. LSU 7, TEXAS A&M 3

Texas A&M eighth inning - With one out, Cole Lankford doubled and moved to third on a single by Stein. Lankford scored on a single by Hunter Melton. LSU 7, TEXAS A&M 4

LSU WASTED SCORING CHANCES
Seventh inning - Rhymes singled and moved to second on Ibarra's ground out to third base. Rhymes was stranded in scoring position as Ross grounded out to second and Jones struck out.

Eighth inning - With one out one, McMullen walked and Mark Laird beat out a bunt for a single. After Bregman popped out to first base, Mason Katz singled. However, McMullen was thrown out at the plate by leftfielder Jonathan Moroney.

Ninth inning - With two out, Ross doubled. Jones lined out to third base.

LSU HITTING STAR
McMullen had a season-high four hits and matched his season-high in RBIs with three. McMullen had two doubles and was thrown out trying to stretch a single into a double. McMullen had a RBI hit in each of LSU's three scoring innings - a double in the second, a single in the fourth and a double in the sixth. The first two run-scoring hits came with two out. McMullen walked in his last at-bat.

LSU STARTING PITCHER
Aaron Nola remained unbeaten for the year as he picked up his tenth victory. Nola's string of four consecutive complete games was snapped due to the rain delay after the sixth inning. Nola held Texas A&M scoreless on just two hits in the first five innings. The Aggies got on the scoreboard with two runs in the sixth on three singles wrapped around an error by Ibarra. Nola walked none and struck out four. He faced one over the minimum through the first five innings.

LSU BULLPEN
LSU needed three relievers to handle the last three inning Saturday morning. Joey Bourgeois had his problems as he gave up two runs and four hits before being replaced with two runners on base and one out in the eighth. Nick Rumbelow took over for Bourgeois with the tying run at the plate and got Mengden to hit into a 5-4-3 double play. Chris Cotton threw a perfect ninth inning to record his 11th save. Cotton struck out one and got the other two outs on fly balls.

NOTES
The game was suspended after six innings Friday night due to rain. It was resumed Saturday at 9:30 a.m. with LSU ahead of the Aggies 7-2. . .Rhymes went back to the fifth spot in the lineup. Foster, who played rightfield because Texas A&M started a lefthanded pitcher, batted second. Andrew Stevenson was the centerfielder. . .LSU finished with 17 hits. Every player who came to the plate got at least one hit. . .Jones, who had two singles, now has a nine-game hitting streak. . .Bregman and Rhymes also extended hitting streaks. Bregman, who had a first-inning single, has hit safely in six straight games. Rhymes, who had three singles, has a five-game hitting streak. . .Katz also had two hits. . .The Tigers were 5-for-12 with runners in scoring position. . .Texas A&M starting pitcher Matt Kent allowed three runs and six hits in 1.2 innings. . .Stein had three hits - two off Nola. LSU is 44-7 overall, 20-6 in the SEC. The Tigers trail Vanderbilt by 2 games in the overall SEC standings. The Commodores will play Kentucky in a doubleheader Saturday. LSU leads Arkansas by 3 games in the SEC West. The Tigers can clinch the Western Division by winning the regularly-scheduled game Saturday afternoon.

NEXT UP
LSU will play Texas A&M at Blue Bell Park in College Station on Saturday at noon. Ryan Eades (8-1, 2.36 ERA) will be the starting pitcher.
