LSU seeking increase in ticket prices

BATON ROUGE - The LSU Athletic Department will seek to implement a flexible pricing plan for home football games as well as proposing an increase in the Tradition Fund for the first time since 2010 in certain areas of Tiger Stadium beginning next season.

The proposal to raise prices for the 2014 football season will go before the LSU Board of Supervisors on Friday, Oct. 25 and it also includes a plan to increase the Tradition Fund for tickets and parking for the 2015 baseball season. LSU hasn't proposed an increase in tickets or parking for baseball since 2009.

Following the Future: How future LSU Tigers are performing this high school football season

"This is the first time since 2010 that we have sought a price increase for football," LSU Vice-Chancellor and Director of Athletics Joe Alleva said. "This increase is necessary for us to stay competitive at the highest level of collegiate athletics, but also because of the rising costs of doing business on a daily basis."

The proposal also calls for a six percent increase in season ticket prices from the previous season as well as an increase to the Tradition Fund for reserved parking on campus for both cars and RVs. The proposed parking plan will see 49% of the parking prices remain at its current level. LSU hasn't proposed an increase in reserved parking on campus for football since 2007.

LSU football: Even Tiger veterans must make adjustments

Under the Tradition Fund proposal for football, no section in the stadium will increase more than $100 and over 11,000 seats will not be subjected to the increase in donation. The plan will also see the pricing structure for Tiger Stadium adjusted to allow for more flexibility in future pricing based on seat location and demand.

As for the flexible pricing plan, the athletic department is seeking approval to price tickets based on opponent and the date of the game.

In baseball, the proposal calls for 2,500 seats (29%) to either have donation levels reduced or will pay no donation at all.
