Brazil indefinitely suspended

LSU coach Les Miles announced at his post-practice press conference Wednesday evening that freshman running back Jeryl Brazil has been indefinitely suspended from the team after being arrested last Friday.

Brazil was given a misdemeanor summons for simple battery and simple criminal damage to property after an incident at a campus apartment. Brazil had been given a misdemeanor summons in September after getting into a fight - also on campus.

"Jeryl Brazil has been suspended from the team indefinitely for an incident on campus," Miles said.

Miles had no further comment on the matter. He made the decision as soon as he was made aware of the incident. Brazil had participated in just the UAB game this season when he gained ten yards on two carries.

LSU defensive players have different reasons for collapse

The Tigers' practice Wednesday was much shorter than usual. Obviously, Miles is cutting back on practice with LSU preparing to play Furman on Saturday - its ninth game in as many weeks. No other BCS conference team will have a game for the first nine weeks of the 2013 season.

"The guys have practiced hard this week," Miles said. "There has been solace and comfort in their preparation. There is some anger in the pit of your stomach after that type of game. There is some unresolved want. We will be ready for Furman."

Jarvis Landry discusses the path forward after Ole Miss loss

According to Miles, fullback J.C. Copeland will probably miss his second consecutive game. Copeland fell in the shower, hit his head and received a concussion two days before the Ole Miss game.

"I don't know if J.C. will be with us Saturday," Miles said. "There was no horseplay involved. He slipped and hit his head on the floor."

Miles was asked if quarterback Zach Mettenberger is dealing with an injury. Miles said that Mettenberger has "no injury and he's healthy." Miles added that No. 2 quarterback Anthony Jennings has not taken any additional snaps in practice this week.

Linebacker Tahj Jones has practiced fully this week, according to Miles. The training staff needs to evaluate Jones following Wednesday's practice.
