Four-star DE Garrett Dickerson picks NU

Alabama, Ohio State and Stanford are all headed to BCS bowls, but Northwestern beat those three schools and Michigan in the chase for four-star defensive end Garrett Dickerson.

After spending the weekend in Evanston, the Oradell (N.J.) Bergen Catholic prospect ended his recruitment process and committed to Northwestern.

"So truly blessed to be a CAT! #committed #TightEnd #Northwestern #B1GCATS #GoCats," Dickerson tweeted Sunday morning.

The "#TightEnd" comes as a bit of a surprise, as Northwestern had been recruiting him as a defensive end. WildcatReport has not yet confirmed at which position Dickerson will play.

Dickerson's pre-existing ties to Northwestern likely played a big role in his decision to commit. His brother Cameron Dickerson is a redshirt sophomore wide receiver, and freshman safety Kyle Queiro also attended Bergen Catholic. Three-star linebacker Cameron Queiro, a Class of 2014 commit, is also of teammate of Dickerson's at Bergen Catholic.

It was a big weekend for Northwestern recruiting, as targets Dickerson, four-star cornerback Parrker Westphal and three-star safety Khari Blasingame were all on campus, in addition to all but two of its Class of 2014 commits.

Northwestern is believed to have two remaining spots in its Class of 2014.
