Hale, who was moved to the cleanup spot after batting ninth in his two previous starts, had three singles and drove in a run. Hale had a single to load the bases in LSU's four-run sixth inning. Hale's two-out single in the ninth drove home Stevenson with the Tigers' final run. Hale's other hit came in the seventh. Hale has seven hits in three games.

Cody Glenn worked five-plus innings and allowed three runs and seven hits. However, just one of the three runs was earned. A passed ball by Chinea and an error by Bregman resulted in two unearned runs. Glenn did his best pitching in the first after giving up singles to three of the first four batters. With a run in and two men on base, Glenn struck out Carr and Cedotal. SLU didn't get another runner into scoring position until the fifth when Woods singled and moved up on Chinea's passed ball. Glenn was taken out of the game after he hit Fisher to start the sixth. Glenn walked one and struck out three in picking up the victory, the ninth of his career.

Four Tigers relievers combined to throw four scoreless innings. The Lions had just four base runners off the LSU bullpen - on a walk, an error, a hit batter and a single. Nate Fury issued a walk when he replaced Glenn. However, he would have gotten out of the threat without a run were it not for Bregman's two-out error. Parker Bugg threw a perfect seventh with two strikeouts. Joe Broussard hit a batter with one out in the eighth. Kurt McCune allowed a one-out single in the ninth.

Paul Mainieri
"Our pitching was very effective again tonight. We played spectacular defense. We knew coming in that this game was going to be a real challenge in a tough environment. Our players handled it well. Southeastern is a difficult team to beat that always plays us tough. We were able to earn a hard-fought victory."

LSU will play host to Virginia Tech at The Box at 7 p.m. on Friday. The Hokies split their first two games - winning against Delaware and losing to The Citadel. Aaron Nola will be the starting pitcher for the Tigers. The LSU-Virginia Tech game will be broadcast on CST.
