LSU gets their 2015 QB

Essentially it was Justin McMillan's audition and the Cedar Hill (Texas) quarterback turned in a show-stopping performance.

McMillan parlayed two days of working out at LSU's camp on Monday and Tuesday into a much-awaited scholarship offer which turned into a commitment before departing for home on Wednesday.

"I kind of felt a vibe around the coaches they were letting me know it was coming," McMillan said of the scholarship offer. "We went to the office after a tour around camps and he (LSU football coach Les Miles) came back and said he wanted me be a Tiger and wanted me to meet the team. I told him I was ready."

With a pair of young quarterbacks in the program - sophomore Anthony Jennings and freshman Brandon Harris - vying for the starting berth it was imperative LSU find a quarterback to be a part in the Class of 2015. McMillan is the Tigers lone quarterback commitment in their current class and 12th overall pledge.

McMillan, who is left-handed, worked closely under the watchful eye of offensive coordinator Cam Cameron and received value instruction that went a long way in exhibiting his potential and future development. The 6-foot-1, 177-pounder arrived in Baton Rouge a two-star prospect with offers from UNLV and Arkansas State.

McMillan played a signicant role in his first year as a starter, leading Cedar Hill to a 14-2 record and Class 5A state championship. The Longhorns knocked off Katy, 34-24, in AT&T Stadium in Arlington for the crown.

McMillan completed 60 percent of his passes - 158 of 264 - for 2,372 yards with 25 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. He enjoyed five games with 200 yards or more with a career-high of 285 coming in a 39-35 win over Temple.

"Im going to be a Tiger for the next four years," McMillan said. "I knew the instant I was here this was home. I could feel the atmosphere around school and met some of the players and they were cool. I could tell this was for me and that this is where I should be."
