MONTGOMERY| Good things come to those who wait.
Three-star tight end Jalen Harris committed to Auburn on Tuesday night, just 10 days after receiving an offer from the Tigers -- a scholarship he had coveted for months.
"For awhile I've thought that Auburn was going to be the place for me," Harris said in a ceremony at St. James School. "I'm Just happy to final have a decision. I'm very humbled."
The Montgomery, Ala., native saw his recruitment take off in early June when he earned back-to-back offers from Alabama and LSU. However, he had attended most Auburn home games last season and considered the Tigers his leader despite not having an AU offer in hand.
Things changed recently when the 6-foot-5, 238-pound Harris impressed the Auburn coaching staff during a senior camp earlier this month. The Tigers extended an offer within hours of the camp's conclusion.
Days later, he released a top five that included Auburn, Alabama, LSU, Vanderbilt and Miami. After saying initially that he's need some time to consider all options, Harris then made plans to announce his decision today.
Harris becomes Auburn's 17th commitment for the class of 2015, and the second of the day following up behind Rivals100 offensive lineman Tyler Carr's pledge to the Tigers.
