Rewind: LSU 28, Wisconsin 24

HOUSTON, TEX. - Kenny Hilliard's 28-yard touchdown run capped a huge second half comeback as LSU defeated Wisconsin 28-24 in the Advocare Texas Kickoff on Saturday night at NRG Stadium.

INDIVIDUAL STATISTICAL LEADERS
Gordon ran for 140 yards on 16 carries. Due to a hamstring problem, Gordon had only three carries following his 63-yard run on the first play of the second half. . .Hilliard rushed for 110 yards on 18 carries. . .Dural gained 151 yards on three receptions. . .Jamie Keehn averaged 42.5 yards on eight punts. . .Leonard Fournette returned five kickoffs for 117 yards. . .Cameron Gamble had touchbacks on three of his five kickoffs. . .Kwon Alexander led LSU with eight tackles, including two behind the line of scrimmage. . .Jalen Mills has four tackles, one interception and one quarterback-hurry. One of his tackled resulted in a loss. . .Caputo had a game-high 15 tackles for Wisconsin. He also recovered a fumble and broke up a pass. . .Marcus Trotter had 12 tackles, including 2 for losses, for the Badgers.


LSU MISSED SCORING OPPORTUNITIES
Every time LSU got the ball inside Wisconsin's 40, it came away with points. Twice the Tigers had to settle for field goals of 30 and 47 yards by Delahoussaye. LSU had a first-and-goal on the Badgers' 8, but three plays netted no yards. Jennings was sacked on third down from Wisconsin's 5. Delahoussaye then kicked his 30-yarder. On their next series, the Tigers had a first down at the Badgers' 33. Three plays gained a total of only three yards. So, Delahoussaye entered and made his 47-yarder.

LSU has won 12 straight season-openers with its last defeat coming against Virginia Tech in 2002. . .The Tigers have won 46 consecutive regular-season games against non-Southeastern Conference opponents. . .Nine true freshmen participated for LSU - Jamal Adams, Donnie Alexander, Deondre Clark, Fournette, Davon Godchaux, Brandon Harris, Ed Paris, Quinn and Gamble. . .Dural, Hoko Fanaika, Christian LaCouture and Quinn made their first career starts. . .The 17-point comeback was LSU's largest since it rallied from 28 points behind to beat Troy 40-31 in 2008. . .The fourth-quarter comeback was the 22nd for LSU since Miles became coach. . .The 80-yard touchdown pass from Jennings to Dural equaled the third longest passing play in school history. Josh Booty combined with Reggie Robinson for an 80-yard completion against Western Carolina in the 2000 season-opener. . .Hilliard's 100-yard rushing game was his first in two seasons. His last 100-yard game came against Idaho in 2012. . .Mills' interception was the sixth of his career. . .Ronald Martin's fourth-quarter interception was the fourth of his career. . .Keehn's 64-yard punt in the second quarter was the longest of his career.


LES MILES' COMMENTS
"We played sloppy. We did everything we couldn't do until the latest possible time when we had to play our best. We had a number of misfires by young players which stopped us. Those will be addressed in orderly fashion this week. It's a lot more fun to do that and go to work after a victory. We're a blue-collar team which fights like hell when we get into a competitive game."

UP NEXT
LSU will play host to Sam Houston State in the home opener at Tiger Stadium. The Bearkats evened their record at 1-1 with a 51-20 victory against Alabama State on Saturday night. Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m. The game will be televised on the SEC Network.
