Walker Cancels Announcement, Wants to Visit LSU

Cornerback prospect Marcus Walker of Waco, Texas is one of the nation's top-100 football recruits and he was about ready to announce his college decision but now he wants more information.

Walker stands at 5-foot-11, 185 pounds. He finished his senior season with 30 tackles, one tackle for loss, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery. He also had two kick returns for 80 yards with a long of 51. He did not make any interceptions due to very few balls coming on his side of the field.

LSU offensive line coach Stacy Searels is recruiting Walker for the Tiger staff.

"I just got off the phone with Coach Searels," Walker said. "He was saying that is going to come by the school next week and he was talking about my visit."

Walker has one official visit remaining and that is to LSU on the weekend of January 16. He has already visited Florida State, Texas A&M and Oklahoma.

The Nation's No. 4 cornerback prospect according to Rivals.com was scheduled to announce his commitment Tuesday evening on "Inside Southwest Recruiting" with Bobby Burton but LSU's national championship Sunday through a monkey wrench into those plans.

"I watched the Sugar Bowl and it was a good game," Walker said. "They fought hard and the LSU defense played real good. They run a lot of man coverage and they were disrupting a lot of pass patterns and the linemen were getting pressure on the quarterback."

Searels has talked with Walker about LSU's depth chart at cornerback and what the competition looks like at the position.

"They have Corey Webster and he may or may not come back, then they have other corners but not many with too much game experience so I fit in with what they are looking for," Walker said.

Walker was asked which schools he would choose from when making a decision and he said, "Oklahoma, Florida State and LSU."

He added that he plans to announce his decision soon after returning home from his official visit to LSU.
