2004 EA SPORTS Elite 11 Quarterbacks announced

After 11 NIKE Camps, seven EA SPORTS Elite 11 Quarterback Regional Camps and the evaluation of over 1,000 top high school quarterbacks both in person and on film, the selection process for the 2004 EA SPORTS Elite 11 Quarterback Campetition is now complete.

Held in Southern California from July 21-25 this year, the EA SPORTS Elite 11 will actually feature 12 of the best young high school quarterbacks receiving tutelage from top college counselors as well as the EA SPORTS Elite 11 coaching staff.

With that in mind, here's a look at the 2004 EA SPORTS Elite 11.

HARRISON BECK
6-1, 205 lbs.
Clearwater (Fla.) Countryside HS

Bio: A confident play-maker who likes to compare himself to Brett Favre. Is a strong-armed passer who can deliver the ball in traffic and is very slick both in and out of the pocket. Attended the NIKE Camp and EA SPORTS Elite 11 Quarterback Regional Workout in Miami. Committed to the Nebraska Cornhuskers in early June.
2003 Stats: Completed 138 of 240 passes for 2,271 yards with 21 touchdowns and 10 interceptions.
JAKE CHRISTENSEN
6-0, 200 lbs.
Lockport (Ill.) Lockport HS

Bio: Strong-armed accurate passer out of the Chicago area. Has very good feet and great presence on the field. A good leader and also an outstanding baseball talent. Led Lockport to a state title as a junior. Attended the EA SPORTS Elite 11 Quarterback Regional Workouts in Iowa City and Las Vegas. Recently committed to the Iowa Hawkeyes.
2003 Stats: Threw for 3,681 yards with 33 TD passes and seven interceptions.
JOE COX
6-1, 192 lbs.
Charlotte (N.C.) Independence HS

Bio: Precision passer who was the most consistent thrower seen this year at a NIKE or EA SPORTS Elite 11 Regional Camp. Very accurate and fundamentally sound in his drops and reads. Doesn't have ideal size but is taller than his Independence High predecessor Chris Leak and very comparable on the field with release, knowledge and approach to the game. Earned Student Sports Junior All-American and all-state honors last fall. Attended the NIKE Camp and also the EA SPORTS Elite 11 Quarterback Regional Workout in Atlanta. Recently made a verbal commitment to the Georgia Bulldogs.
2003 Stats: 237 of 373 passing for 3,983 yards with 43 touchdown passes and 11 interceptions.
JONATHAN CROMPTON
6-3, 211 lbs.
Waynesville (N.C.) Tuscola HS

Bio: Hard working slinger from the South who's attracted colleges from all over the country. A big presence in the pocket, especially after adding 20 pounds of muscle since his junior season. Has a strong and accurate arm and moves well for his size. Was an EA SPORTS Elite 11 Ballboy in 2003. Attended the NIKE Camp and EA SPORTS Elite 11 Quarterback Regional Workout in Atlanta. Recently committed to the Tennessee Volunteers.
2003 Stats: 166 of 220 passing for 2,323 yards with 23 TD passes and five interceptions.
CHASE DANIEL
6-0 1/2, 214 lbs.
Southlake (Texas) Carroll HS

Bio: Versatile threat who can hurt the opposition with his arm and his feet. A rugged player with 4.5 speed and a nice passing touch. Had a huge year last fall, earning State 5A Offensive Player of the Year honors after leading Southlake Carroll all the way to the state finals. Also a talented baseball player. Attended the NIKE Camp in College Station and EA SPORTS Elite 11 Quarterback Regional Workouts in College Station and Las Vegas. Likes Missouri, Stanford, Oklahoma State and Texas.
2003 Stats: Threw for 3,681 yards and 42 touchdowns with nine interceptions while rushing for 1,529 yards and 18 more scores.
JONATHAN GARNER
6-4, 206 lbs.
Daytona Beach (Fla.) Mainland HS

Bio: Tall, lanky left-hander who's a polished passer in the pocket and a great leader. Has a strong enough arm and makes some of the deeper throws like posts and comebacks as well as anyone in the country. Led Mainland to its first ever state title last fall and was a Class 5A all-state honorable mention selection. Attended the NIKE Camp in Miami and EA SPORTS Elite 11 Quarterback Regional Workouts in Miami and Las Vegas. Likes Stanford, Miami and Ole Miss.
2003 Stats: Completed 94 of 164 pass attempts for 1,260 yards with 11 touchdowns and three interceptions.
ARKELON HALL
6-1, 205 lbs.
Fresno (Calif.) Edison HS

Bio: Precision pocket passer with a strong arm and quick release. Not a burner but moves well and makes plays both inside and outside the pocket. Very consistent thrower who does a lot of things well. Was a Cal-Hi Sports 2nd Team Underclassman all-state selection in 2003. Attended the NIKE Camp at Stanford and EA SPORTS Elite 11 Quarterback Regional Workouts in Berkeley and Las Vegas. Committed to the Washington State Cougars.
2003 Stats: Threw for 2,602 yards with 34 TD passes and just five interceptions.
RYAN PERRILLOUX
6-2, 207 lbs.
Laplace (La.) East St. John HS

Bio: A dynamic three-sport star who is the nation's most recruited quarterback at this point with a current total of 82 scholarship offers. Has the strongest arm shown at any of the 2004 NIKE Camps and can hurt the opposition with his feet as well. Was the District 6-5A Offensive Player of the Year, Class 5A all-state and a Student Sports Junior All-American selection after the 2003 season. Also has averaged over 24 points per game in basketball the past two years and is an exceptional baseball player as well. Attended the NIKE Camp in Baton Rouge. Claims no favorites but schools like Texas, USC, LSU, Florida State and Ohio State are often mentioned.
2003 Stats: 119 of 209 passing for 2,404 yards with 26 TD passes and just six interceptions. Also rushed 136 times for 1,274 yards and 21 TDs.
KYLE REED
6-1 1/2, 194 lbs.
Oakland (Calif.) McClymonds HS

Bio: Very athletic signal caller with good feet and a strong arm. Spins the ball well and puts nice touch on his deep balls. Still somewhat raw in his fundamentals but has tremendous physical tools and is a quick study. Very personable and confident leader with a great positive attitude. Has a great deal of upside at the next level. Attended the NIKE Camp at Stanford and also the EA SPORTS Elite 11 Quarterback Regional Workout in Berkeley. Missed five games as a junior with a fractured thumb but still earned all-city honors. Recently made a verbal commitment to the California Golden Bears.
2003 Stats: 55 of 100 passing for 1,100 yards with 11 touchdown passes.
MARK SANCHEZ
6-3 1/2, 211 lbs.
Mission Viejo (Calif.) Mission Viejo HS

Bio: A very well-refined quarterback who could be the most complete passer in the Class of 2004. Has great size and can make all the throws. Very developed mentally, evident in his anticipation and vision of the entire field. Also a very accurate passer. Isn't going to take off and run for 30 yards but does have quick feet and can make plays with them when needed. Led Mission Viejo to a one-loss season a year ago and was a Cal-Hi Sports 2nd team all-state underclass selection. Participated at the NIKE Camp in San Diego. Likes Ohio State, Texas and USC.
2003 Stats: 143 of 191 passing for 2,460 yards with 29 TD passes and seven interceptions.
ROB SCHOENHOFT
6-5, 227 lbs.
Cincinnati (Ohio) St. Xavier HS

Bio: A big, strong-armed signal caller out of the Midwest. Gets the ball out very quickly for a big man and also has good feet. A tough pocket passer who will stand in versus the pressure and make big plays down the field. Attended the NIKE Camp in Columbus and also the EA SPORTS Elite 11 Quarterback Regional Workout in Iowa City. Current college favorites include Michigan, Florida, Notre Dame, LSU, Michigan State and Ohio State.
2003 Stats: 78 of 170 passing for 1,200 yards with 12 touchdowns and four interceptions.
WILLIE TUITAMA
6-2, 212 lbs.
Stockton (Calif.) St. Mary's HS

Bio: A strong-armed passer who showed well at camps this spring. Has a quick delivery and the ball just explodes out of his hand upon release. A player that will continue to improve with experience, as he's yet to start a full season. Not a blazer but has good footwork with his drops. Participated at the NIKE Camp in Stanford and attended the EA SPORTS Elite 11 Regional Workouts in Berkeley and Las Vegas. Recently committed to the Arizona Wildcats.
2003 Stats: 64 of 92 passing for 1,134 yards with 11 TD passes and three interceptions.

This will be the sixth year of the EA SPORTS Elite 11, which has developed into the premier quarterback event in the nation. A combination camp and competition, the EA SPORTS Elite 11 is designed to give the best high school quarterbacks in the nation some top-level schooling by the best in the business.

Notable EA SPORTS Elite 11 alumni include Brock Berlin, Casey Clausen, Chris Rix, Chance Mock, Jeff Smoker, Derek Anderson, Kellen Clemens, Brodie Croyle, Matt Leinart, Kyle Orton, Vince Young, Chris Leak and many many more. Past counselors now litter NFL rosters and include Tim Rattay (49ers), Drew Brees (Chargers), A.J. Feeley (Dolphins), Carson Palmer (Bengals), Marques Tuiasosopo (Raiders), David Carr (Texans), Rohan Davey (Patriots), Kyle Boller (Ravens), Ben Roethlisberger (Steelers), Matt Schaub (Falcons) and John Navarre (Cardinals).

This year’s college counselors are Derek Anderson (Oregon State senior), Dan Orlovsky (UConn senior), Kyle Orton (Purdue senior), Aaron Rodgers (Cal junior), Brad Smith (Missouri junior) and Heisman Trophy winner Jason White (Oklahoma senior).
