Robinson back from FSU unofficial

Football recruiting is getting ready to really heat up. If you want timely recruiting news and features from THE source, give our 7-day free trial a shot.

Florida State welcomed in a couple dozen highly regarded recruits over the weekend for unofficial visits. Perhaps the attendee that traveled the furthest was four-star prospect Jamie Robinson, who made the trip from Rock Hill, South Carolina.

This past weekend wasn't the first time the Palmetto State's top rated defensive back was on Florida State's campus. In July he took part in FSU's football camp, but this time around it was a totally different experience getting to watch a game in Doak Campbell Stadium.

"I liked the atmosphere of the game, that I was impressed with," Robinson said. "It was how energized the crowd was... I enjoyed it, it was real nice. I didn't think it would be like that. I thought Virginia would play them pretty tight."

In addition to watching the Seminoles demolish previously unbeaten Virginia, the 6-foot-2, 185-pound defensive back toured the campus and met one-on-one with coach Bobby Bowden.

"It was nice," Robinson said of his meeting with Bowden. "We talked a lot about Florida State, the school and the academics."

Although he was impressed with everything about the unofficial visit, Robinson didn't make a commitment and wants to wait until he takes some official visits before deciding.

As has been the case since last July, Robinson still lists FSU has a slight leader over Virginia Tech and Clemson. He plans on making unofficial visits to those schools (Va Tech-NC State) over the next few weeks.

So far this season Robinson's team is a perfect 8-0 and he has recorded a team-high seven interceptions and had 15 pass break-ups.
