NORMAN, Oklahoma -- Adrian Peterson, Rhett Bomar and Oklahoma did just enough to hold off Texas A&M.

Peterson ran for 135 yards and two touchdowns and Bomar picked up a key first down as the Sooners narrowly avoided blowing a 21-point lead with a 36-30 Big 12 conference victory over the Aggies.

Peterson had touchdown runs of 10 and six yards and Bomar ran for a 15-yard score to open a 21-0 lead with 6:28 left in the first quarter. Oklahoma's Allen Patrick made it 28-7 with a 28-yard run on the final play of the period.

Texas A&M (5-5, 3-4 Big 12 South) pulled within 30-24 before Bomar tossed an eight-yard TD to Travis Wilson with 11:09 to play. Bomar's two-point conversion pass failed, keeping the lead at 14.

The Aggies got within 36-30 on field goals of 34 and 27 yards by Todd Pegram, the latter with 3:28 to play.

But with a 3rd-and-12 at the Oklahoma 18, Bomar completed a 34-yard pass to Juaquin Iglesias, and the Sooners (6-3, 5-1 South) ran out the clock to become bowl eligible.

Bomar completed 20-of-28 passes for 298 yards, one touchdown and one interception and Malcolm Kelly had five catches for 118 yards for the Sooners.

Reggie McNeal went 12-of-29 for 158 yards, two TDs and one interception but was sacked four times for the Aggies, who lost their third straight game and must beat No. 2 Texas on November 25 to become bowl eligible. Courtney Lewis ran 15 times for 146 yards in the defeat.
