Four to the front for Sturdivant
Quantavius Sturdivant is one of the most versatile athletes in the Tar Heel States this year, having played quarterback, safety cornerback and returned kicks as a junior. The 6-foot-2, 225-pound Sturdivant is currently focused on four teams.Oakboro (N.C.) West Stanly athlete
"(North) Carolina, NC State, Florida and South Carolina are the main schools," Sturdivant said. "I've been to Chapel Hill, Raleigh and Gainesville so far. I might visit South Carolina. I'm not sure yet."
Sturdivant recently attended Florida's camp and enjoyed the experience.
"I did pretty good down there. I ran a 4.44 (in the 40-yard dash). Their stadium is real nice, and they have nice facilities. Their coaches are good people. They have offered me now. Coach (Doc) Holliday is my recruiting coach."
North Carolina also rates highly on Sturdivant's list.
"Chapel Hill is a nice place to be, and I know I could get a good education if I went there. They are a program on the rise, and they have good coaches."
NC State and South Carolina round out his top four.
"NC State has nice facilities and good coaches, and it's just a good place to be, too," he said. "At South Carolina, Steve Spurrier is a great coach. Their team has been doing pretty good the last couple of years, and they have a good football tradition."
Sturdivant, who bench presses 325 pounds, knows what he's looking for in a school.
"A good graduation rate because I definitely want to get a college degree. I also want to feel very comfortable with the coaches I'm going to play for. Then it will just be the environment overall. I want to be in a place where I fit in."
Two teams have jumped to the forefront.
"North Carolina and Florida are my top two. I'd like to make my decision sometime before my senior season begins."
