Reggie Nelson

Safety, Jr., Melbourne, Fla;

For the first time this year a player from the defensive side of the ball breaks through to be voted as the Alley-Gator Great by the subscribers of InsidetheGators.net.

Nelson recorded 5 tackles, recovered a fumble and returned an interception 70-yards for a touchdown in Florida's 28-13 win over Alabama.

THE REASON WHY: Nelson's huge pick 6 sealed the deal and gave us a big win over Alabama! - Swamp_Thing

Come on people, Reggie Nelson OUTSCORED Bama's offense and put our offense in great shape for another score with his fumble recovery. If that doesn't win you Alley-Gator Great, then we might as well quit nominating defensive players. Leak played well, but this is a no-brainer. - awalker3

I think a defensive player wins the Alley-Gator Great for the first time this season. Reggie Nelson made two huge plays for his team. Both turnovers, the fumble recovery and interception, kept points off of the board for Alabama. When the Tide thought they had a chance to get the big road win, Reggie Nelson stepped up and crushed their dreams. Go Gators. - mas0n311

InsidetheGators.net will post a poll with our five nominations for Alley-Gator Great on the Alligator Alley shortly after each game. The poll will be left in place until Monday morning. Each week's Great Alley-Gator will be announced Monday afternoon.
