SEC Week 4 Recap
Alabama
The Crimson Tide scored 10 points in the final 6:30 to force overtime, but fell 26-23 to Georgia. Alabama kicked a field goal on its OT possession, then saw the Bulldogs win it on a 25-yard TD pass on their first play of the extra period.
Next: Saturday, vs. Florida State in Jacksonville.
Arkansas
The Hogs ran for 338 yards, but it wasn't enough as Kentucky rallied for a 42-29 victory. Arkansas led 29-21 after a safety and ensuing kickoff return for a TD by Felix Jones. But UK scored three times in the fourth quarter to win it. Darren McFadden ran for 173 yards and a TD, and Jones added 133. But the defense allowed UK to roll up 435 yards. The Hogs had 373 first-half yards but led just 20-14 at halftime.
Next: Saturday, vs. North Texas.
Auburn
The Tigers used a strong second-half performance to pull away and beat New Mexico State 55-20. Auburn led just 21-20 at halftime. The Tigers had two 100-yard rushers, and backup TB Mario Fannin ran for three TDs. The Tigers intercepted New Mexico State's Chase Holbrook three times.
Next: Saturday, at Florida.
Florida
Tim Tebow ran for two scores, passed for two more and had 427 yards of total offense as the Gators won 30-24 at Ole Miss. Tebow ran for 166 yards and passed for 261. UF led 27-9 before Ole Miss scored twice to make things interesting. Percy Harvin had 11 catches for 121 yards and a TD. UF's young secondary was torched for 302 passing yards.
Next: Saturday, vs. Auburn.
Georgia
Matthew Stafford hit Mikey Henderson on a 25-yard TD pass on the Bulldogs' first play in overtime for a 26-23 victory at Alabama. It was Henderson's first career TD reception. Stafford threw two TDs but also two picks; he was a big reason the Bulldogs were 9-for-19 on third-down conversions.
Next: Saturday, vs. Ole Miss.
Kentucky
The Wildcats scored three fourth-quarter TDs to come away with a 42-29 victory at Arkansas and move to 4-0. Andre' Woodson threw for 265 yards and two TDs and also ran for a score as the Wildcats rallied from a 29-21 deficit. Woodson was 21-of-39, with no interceptions. He has thrown 296 consecutive passes without an interception, breaking Trent Dilfer's I-A record of 271.
Next: Saturday, vs. Florida Atlantic.
LSU
The Tigers unleashed a devastating rushing attack to beat South Carolina 28-16. LSU rushed for 288 yards to move to 4-0. LSU also held the Gamecocks to just 6 rushing yards. LSU led 21-7 at halftime, thanks to a TD off a fake field goal, and never was in true danger in the second half.
Next: Saturday, at Tulane.
Mississippi State
The Bulldogs moved to 3-1 for the first time since 2000 with a 31-15 victory over I-AA Gardner-Webb. Mississippi State scored on its first possession and never trailed. Starting QB Michael Henig missed the game with a broken hand, and true freshman Wesley Carroll got his first career start. Anthony Dixon ran for two TDs.
Next: Saturday, at South Carolina.
Ole Miss
The Rebels couldn't handle Tim Tebow and fell 30-24 to Florida. Tebow had 427 yards of total offense. Ole Miss' offense did its best to keep the Rebels in the game in the second half, finishing with 390 total yards. Seth Adams threw for 302 and two TDs. Ole Miss has lost three in a row.
Next: Saturday, at Georgia.
South Carolina
The Gamecocks scored first, but it wasn't near enough as they fell 28-16 at LSU. The Tigers led 21-7 at halftime and never were seriously threatened in the second half. The Gamecocks rushed for just 6 yards. Steve Spurrier fell to 11-2 against LSU.
Next: Saturday, vs. Mississippi State.
Tennessee
Senior Erik Ainge threw for a career-high 334 yards and four TDs as the Vols eased past Arkansas State 48-27. The Vols also rushed for a season-high 188 yards. The defense allowed 377 yards, though it did have two sacks and two interceptions.
Next: Oct. 6, vs. Georgia.
Vanderbilt
The Commodores were off last week.
Next: Saturday, vs. Eastern Michigan..
