Auburn d-end picks up SEC honor

Auburn sophomore defensive end Antonio Coleman has been named the Southeastern Conference's Defensive Lineman of the Week, the conference office announced Monday.

Coleman was honored following Auburn's 17-3 victory over Ole Miss Saturday.

Coleman collected four tackles against the Rebels, with three of the tackles going for losses (-18 yards), including two quarterback sacks (-12 yards). He helped the Auburn defense hold Ole Miss to just 193 yards of total offense, including only 70 on the ground.

In Auburn's last four games, Coleman has registered nine tackles for losses (-43 yards), including three quarterback sacks (-21 yards).

He leads the team and is tied for 17th nationally with 12.5 tackles for loss this season, and his team-high six quarterback sacks ranks fifth in the SEC.

Coleman is the seventh Auburn player to be recognized with an SEC weekly award this season. He joins Tray Blackmon (defense vs. Arkansas), Tyronne Green (offensive lineman vs. Vanderbilt), Jerraud Powers (defense vs. Florida), Wes Byrum (special teams vs. Florida), Patrick Tatum (special teams vs. New Mexico State) and Quentin Groves (defensive lineman vs. Kansas State).

No. 19 Auburn returns to action Saturday when the Tigers host Tennessee Tech for Homecoming. The game kicks off at 1:30 p.m. CT.
