The Round Table MVP: Offense

BamaOnLine.com recently polled the members of its premium message board - the Round Table - in an effort to identify the Alabama Crimson Tide's most valuable players for the 2007 football season. The Round Table has spoken, and today we'll spotlight the player it tabbed as the Tide's top player on offense.

Junior wide receiver DJ Hall earned BOL's offensive MVP honors for the second year in a row after pulling in 63 receptions for 947 yards and six touchdowns. The owner of most of Alabama's significant receiving records, Hall has made 123 catches for 2,003 yards over the last two seasons, with an Independence Bowl left to go.

Hall was the choice of 504 of the 844 members (59.7 percent) who took part in the poll. Hall recorded 100-yard games in Alabama's two biggest victories - against Arkansas and Tennessee - and broke Ozzie Newsome's school record for career receiving yards.

Beginning with the LSU game defenses began doubling Hall, which, along with a one-half suspension against Louisiana-Monroe, sent his late-season production into a tailspin. Still, the Ft. Walton Beach, Fla., native can go over 1,000 yards for the second consecutive year with at least 53 yards in the Independence Bowl.

Left tackle Andre Smith, co-winner of the Jacobs Trophy as the Southeastern Conference's top offensive lineman, finished second in the voting with 21 percent of the vote (177 of 844). Smith was the only Alabama offensive lineman to start every game at the same position.

Senior wide receiver Matt Caddell finished a distant third with 9.4 percent of the vote. Caddell ranked second on the team in receptions (36), receiving yards (399) and caught a game-winning touchdown pass against Arkansas.
