The 2002 Aggie Websider Recruiting Awards

New Page 1

The Prize Recruit

Reggie McNeal

4 come from behind victories in the playoffs topped off with a state championship

The Pipeline Award

For the 2nd straight year A&M got two All-American players from the high school, thanks Coach Morris.

Strongest Player

Brian Patrick

Legends has it he considers Arnold Schwarzenager a little girlie man.

Fastest Player

Reggie McNeal

Finished 3rd in the 100 meters at the State Track Championship

Most likely to start as a fish

Todd Pegram

He studies kicking and has broken it down to a science, kind of like a modern day Ray Guy for kickers

Play Station Champions

Brandon Leone and Kelvin Flood

Brandon definitely talks the best smack, but will he survive the Flood? Kelvin already has his PS2 team with A&M recruits on the defense and I hear they are real good on PS2 also.

Aggie Heart Award

Brandon Leone

Played the last game of his high school career with a 5th degree shoulder separation and still got 100 yards and 2 td's.

Hardest Hitter

Nurahda Manning and Brian Patrick

Nurahda put on a show against Austin Reagan that would have made Dick Butkus proud. Brian's highlight tape shows he is nothing short of a force of nature

Most Fierce Looking

Andy Matakis

Off the field he is as nice as can be, but on the field you better be on his side of the ball or the hurt is coming.

Funniest Recruit

Nick Rhodes and Todd Pegram

Kelvin Flood could not stop talking about how funny he was. Todd was hanging out with Leitko, Winston and Kotzur for his visit and had them laughing the entire time

Welcome Back Again Award

Johnny Jolly

Re-signed with us

Biggest Loss

Kyle Williams

Great talent that will be a 4-year starter at left tackle in college

Parent we most wanted to recruit

Scott Williams

Kyle Williams' father, Scott and Eric have to be two of the funniest brothers around. They had us falling on the floor laughing at The Hole in the Wall with their antics. Oh yeah Eric, can I borrow the Super Bowl ring?

Best Blocker

Taylor Schuster and Patrick Fleming

Taylor racked up the pancakes faster than IHOP. Patrick had 5 pancakes in the first 5 plays against Richland.

Biggest Steals

Archie McDaniel and Chad Schroeder

Nick Saban devoted part of his signing day press conference talking about Archie getting away. Chad's sister helped bring him home to the good guys.

Two-Way Players Award

This class was extremely athletic with virtually every player seeing time on both sides of the ball

Famous Aggie Lineage Award

Tydrick Riley

The nephew of the Crockett Rocket, Claude Riley

Academic All-State Award

Todd Pegram

Made the Academic All-State Team.

Mr. Adonis Award

Bryce Reed

Wowed everyone by his sheer size on his visit

Teammates coming to A&M

Reggie McNeal and Ju Parks, Brandon Fails and Patrick Fleming, Nurahda Manning and Archie McDaniel

The Aggies had great success in getting teammates to commit for a total of 3 pairs of teammates for the year

Best Signing Day Ceremony

Alex Kotzur

Man when they have a "ceremony" they throw a party. Over 50 people were in attendance for the ceremony for Alex.

Top Recruiter

Alan Waddell

He persevered and did not give up on Archie and in the end it paid off
