- Wazzu athletic director Jim Sterk commenting on the recent proposal to move the Apple Cup football game between the Cougars and Huskies to Seattle for six consecutive years.



It is springtime at the Creek and conference teams sit at or near the top in baseball, softball, track and field and rowing this week. In addition, the Pac-10 tennis championships begin this week in Ojai.

The updated 2008-09 Director's Cup standings were released and 14-time defending champ Stanford maintained their usual spot at the top of the heap while the Pac-10 placed six schools in the Top 25.

Meanwhile, at NCAA HQ, Stanford has been certified for athletics.





Oregon

In football, tight end Mychal Rivera has left the team.

In men's hoop, the Ducks signed forward Jamil Wilson to a national letter of intent.

In women's hoop, Oregon added Sacramento State head coach Dan Muscatell, USC assistant coach Kai Felton and Marist College assistant coach Kaila Whittington as assistant coaches and sophomore forward Ellie Manou has left the team and will return to Australia.



WSU

In men's hoop, Wazzu added assistant coach Curtis Allen to the staff.

In football, a proposal to move the Apple Cup to Seattle for six years is under consideration.

In baseball, Wazzu swept Arizona and took the first game from Utah to improve to 8-4 in conference play and 19-16 overall on the year.

In track and field, sophomore javelin tosser Marissa Tschida and junior high jumper Trent Arrivey were named as the conference's female and male athletes of the week.

In tennis, the Cougars lost to rival Washington to fall to 8-18 overall on the year.



UCLA

In baseball, freshman pitcher Trevor Bauer was named as the conference's pitcher of the week.



Washington

In men's hoop, assistant coach Cameron Dollar left to become the head coach at Seattle University and was replaced with Nike business manager Raphael Chillious.



USC

In men's hoop, the Trojans signed point guard Lamont Jones to a letter of intent.



Stanford

In men's tennis, freshman Bradley Klahn was named as the conference's player of the week.



Oregon State

In men's hoop, the Beavers signed forward Angus Brandt, point guard Jared Cunningham and Rhys Murphy to letters of intent.



Arizona

In men's hoop, the Wildcats signed forward Solomon Hill to a letter of intent and hired Archie Miller as an assistant coach while guard Nic Wise has indicated he will make himself eligible for the NBA Draft.



Arizona State

In football, sophomore quarterback Chasen Stangel is transferring.



California

In baseball, junior Jeff Kobernus was named as the conference's player of the week.
