LCPB Postgame: WKU Players

Western Kentucky quarterback Kawaun Jakes and running back Antonio Andrews addressed the media after the Hilltoppers lost to Central Michigan, 24-21, in the Little Caesar's Pizza Bowl.

Kawaun Jakes

On the last play

I didn't make the throw. If I had put it in the right spot, he wouldn't have had to dive for it and try to make a circus catch. He wasn't the first read. He was actually the second read. The corner jumped the flat route and Jack was over the top. Like I said, I just didn't make the throw.

On going for it on the last play

I was in the huddle too. I thought we should have gone for it.

On his career

I played with a bunch of warriors. Every day, we grinded. You don't always get the best outcome, but you never quit. That's not something I ever did and neither did my teammates.

On the bowl experience

I had a great experience. I won't get to experience it again, but I enjoyed my time here. We didn't win and that's what's I was coming up here for. You want to have fun before the game, but at the end of the day, we had a game to win. It might be sad that we didn't win, but overall, I enjoyed my time and I would do it again.

On becoming the leader at WKU in career touchdown passes

My teammates told me about it on the sideline. I'm proud to be the all-time time record holder, but I'm sure that somebody coming after me will break it.

Antonio Andrews

On finishing just short of Barry Sanders' single-season all-purpose yardage record

I mean, I fell short, but I've got another season to go get it. I don't know how many yards I was short, but it is what it is. Today was about the seniors in this bowl game.

On the bowl experience

Overall, it was a good experience. You get to see the seniors enjoy themselves up here in Detroit, just like everybody else. It was a fun experience and my goal for next year is to get back to another bowl game.
