BREAKING: LSU nets commitment from in-state DL Jackson

Hours after the dust settled for the first day of the early signing period, LSU landed another piece -- in its 2020 class.

CamRon Jackson, a 3-star lineman out of Haynesville (La.) High School, committed to the Tigers. The versatile junior played both offensive and defensive tackle, and had offers from Florida, Alabama, Texas and Mississippi State, among others.

“I feel like that’s what best for me and my family,” Jackson told TigerDetails. “My parents and I talked about it. That’s where I want to go and I’m doing it (now) so I can think about grades and winning my team a championship.”

Earlier on Wednesday, Jackson’s cousin, Joseph Evans, signed his national letter of intent with LSU.

Jackson followed suit, a decision he had contemplated for months.

“I picked LSU and I was feeling like LSU was the best school for me to go to,” Jackson said. “I was good with LSU, what LSU could do for me as a student and as a football player.”

“I just kept thinking about it, talking with my mom and dad, and I felt like it was the best place for me,” he added.

The 6-foot-5, 265-pounder out of North Louisiana is the No. 42-ranked tackle in the 2020 class, according to Rivals, and the No. 17 overall prospect in the state.

Jackson earned an offer from LSU in April following the team’s spring game. He nearly committed on the spot. His commitment eight months later caps the first day of the early signing period.

Jackson is the eighth member of LSU’s 2020 recruiting class, which entered Wednesday ranked No. 3 in the country on Rivals.
