During the 2016 season after being named LSU interim head football coach, Ed Orgeron elevated assistant Steve Ensminger to offensive coordinator.

Ensminger returned to his tight ends coaching spot when Orgeron hired Matt Canada as the Tigers’ offensive coordinator. After firing Canada, it should come as absolutely no surprise that Ensminger will again be Orgeron’s choice to run the LSU offense.

Reportedly, LSU will make the announcement in the next day or so that Ensminger will be the offensive coordinator. Former LSU and NFL wide receivers coach Jerry Sullivan will be a full-time assistant in some capacity. Sullivan served as a consultant during preseason practice last year.

It appears that Sullivan will not coach a position, but could be in charge of the passing game. Wide receivers coach Mickey Joseph will remain on the staff along with running backs coach Tommie Robinson. James Cregg has replaced Jeff Grimes as the offensive line coach.

It is not known who will handle the tight ends. Greg McMahon, who was a special teams analyst in 2017, is expected to be added to the staff. The Tigers need a defensive assistant to join coordinator Dave Aranda, Dennis Johnson and Corey Raymond.
