Georgia on 2013 football schedule

LSU will replace one Southeastern Conference Eastern Division contender for another in 2013.
The SEC released next season's football schedule Thursday afternoon. South Carolina leaves the LSU schedule, but it is being replaced by Georgia. The teams will play on Sept. 28 in Athens. The Tigers' permanent Eastern Division opponent remains Florida.

LSU also announced its non-conference schedule for next season as well. It was known that the Tigers were going to play TCU, Alabama-Birmingham and Furman. LSU's fourth non-SEC opponent will be Kent State.
There are 14 weeks in the regular season for SEC teams in 2013. Therefore, each team will have two open dates. LSU's off days are Nov. 2 and Nov. 16, the weekends before and after the Alabama game.
One expected change in the SEC schedule did not occur. The Tigers will still play Arkansas on Thanksgiving weekend. There had been talk that Texas A&M would replace the Razorbacks on that spot on the schedule. LSU will play the Aggies on Nov. 23 - the weekend before Thanksgiving.
As was the case this year, the 2013 football schedule stands by itself. SEC athletic directors will begin formulating schedules for 2014 and beyond in the spring.
"As we began working on the 2013 football schedule, it became apparent that the conference would need another year of the 'bridge' schedule to make everything work," SEC Commissioner Mike Slive said. "We look forward to starting with our new scheduling rotation in 2014."
There are three conference matchups in which the home team in 2013 will be the same as the home team in 2012 - Ole Miss at Alabama, Texas A&M at Ole Miss and Georgia at Auburn.
LSU will have seven homes games in 2013 - Kent State, UAB, Furman, Auburn, Florida, Texas A&M and Arkansas.
