Hilliard says Tigers at the top

A running back with the last name Hilliard in Tiger Stadium for a big game on a Saturday Night.

It just sounds right doesn't it?

One of the top prospects in the country for 2011 returned was in attendance Saturday night for LSU's match-up against the top-ranked Florida Gators and he had nothing but good things to say about his experience.

Kenny Hilliard is a 6-foot, 218-pound running back out of Patterson High School. The nephew of former LSU great Dalton Hilliard, Kenny is coming off of a sophomore season that saw him rush for 2,377 yards on 256 carries with 34 touchdowns.

"The visit went well," Hilliard said. "I enjoyed myself. Too bad LSU could not come away with a win, but all-in-all it was a fun time. The atmosphere was just amazing though; even for an LSU game. I was there tailgating with a couple of friends and we all had a really good time.

"I've been to a lot of LSU games, but this one is definitely one that I will remember. I mean there were 93,000 people in the stands. It was just an unreal sight when you were down there on the field and just looking up at all the gold. Florida is a good team too and I enjoyed my time thoroughly."

Choosing to tailgate and hang out with friends before the game, Hilliard didn't do any of the unofficial before-the-game things that many recruits usually do such as tour facilities or talk to the coaching staff.

"I didn't talk to anybody or really try to tour any facilities," Hilliard said. "I already know a lot about LSU and I was really just there to enjoy the game and I can tell you I sure did that."

With rumors swirling that he was thinking about committing to the Tigers Saturday, Hilliard said he is still nowhere close to making a decision.

"That was just one of those crazy internet recruiting rumors," Hilliard said. "I have not even started to think about narrowing down schools and definitely am not close to making a commitment to a school yet. I talk to (LSU running backs coach) Larry Porter a lot and he and I are starting to develop a good relationship. He is doing a good job of selling the LSU program to me and I am liking what I am hearing. But I'm only a junior so I have time. I am going to let (the recruiting process) just all play out. I will say this though: LSU is ranked at the top of my list though."
