I wasn't aware Florida loses more players than LSU does... solid read, thanks for posting it.

I was suprised too. After looking at that I'm feeling better about UGA and UF games.

This is a good read. It shows that AL has the highest rated Scholarship players just ahead of LSU. The best of the rest are a little further back. No surprise.

Many great games between our teams thourgh the years. I look for more of the same in 2013.
This is DEEP DEPTH, so just skip it if you're not interested in roster comparisons.

In 2012, UF was without their WR's coach / recruiting coordinator who resigned in early Aug.
They had a 1st year OC/QB coach that then also had to pick up the WR's coach job.
This is also the 3rd OC and system in the last 3 years putting an extreme hardship on the Gator Offense.
They started off the season ranked 23-24 in the Nation and projected to finish 3rd or 4th in the SECe.
Add in the fact that only 7 players on the entire team started every game at their primary position and it's
a near miracle that they managed to go 11-1, 7-1, and the beat the ACC-C FSU in their house, to finish up #3 ranked in the final BCS Poll.
Then they finished off the season at 11-2 ranked in the final Top 10 against the #1 Ranked SoS.
Not the finish that any Gator fan wanted, but all things considered, I was thrilled with their season.

I think those #'s are from just the last class. I thought like you did until I saw Ole Miss' rating.

Teams are made up of 4-5 recruit classes, depending on the # of rsSr's on

a team, and on the number of early departures, of one kind or another.....

2013 - #4 = 3.59 --- (new DC Durkin, Quinn to DC Seahawks)

2012 - #3 = 3.70 --- (new OC Pease, Weise to HBC Kan.)

2011 - #12 = 3.58 --- (plus new OC Weise & DC Quinn)

Meyer to Muschamp HBC'ing change

2010 - #2 = 3.89 --- (new DC, Strong to HBC at UL)

2009 - #11 = 3.94 --- (new OC, Mullen to HBC at MsSt)

With many other yearly Assistant Coaching Changes.

Five Recruit Class Average: 6.4 = 3.74

Five year W/L Record 2008 - 2012 = 52 - 15 for an average season W/L of 10.4 - 3

Question: Which is better,

a 16 recruit class with a 3.94 average,

or a 29 class with a 3.59 average?

A 16 class where all 16 get in and stay for 4 years,

or a 25 class where 6-7 fail to get in and 10 don't make 4 years for one reason or another?

So many very variables to judging this recruit class stuff....

Best classes imo: 23-25 recruits, with a 3.65+ average, and 90+ % stay all 4 years.

But that just doesn't happen often, no matter what school you look at.....

The W/L drop off and inconsistency in Gator teams since the 2008 BCS-NC is a result

of the constant coaching changes. Better coaching stability is a necessity in the SEC imo.

Coaching stability is just as important (or more) than having top recruit class rankings.

Bonus 2014 so far: (but of course NSD is a long way off yet)

UF #3 = 3.67

LSU #6 = 3.63

UA #21 = 3.67

However:

UF 20 - 17 @ aTm
aTm 29 - 25 @ UA
LSU 24 - 19 @ aTm
UA 21 - 17 @ LSU
LSU 6 - 14 @ UF
OR
SCa 35 - 7 UGA
LSU 32 - 21 SCa
UF 44 - 11 SCA
UGA 17 - 9 UF (Jax)
UA 32 - 28 UGA (SEC-C)

Any way you slice it, there are NO guarantees in SEC play, as usual.
