BATON ROUGE, La. -- One of LSU’s four offensive linemen is already in line for a position change.

Charles Turner, a 3-star lineman from Ohio who is set to graduate to IMG Academy (Fla.), will be a tight end when he arrives at LSU next month, coach Ed Orgeron announced on Wednesday evening.

Turner is listed as the No. 40-ranked offensive tackle by Rivals and No. 69 overall prospect from the state of Florida. He was originally recruited by offensive line coach James Cregg to be a center for the Tigers.

"We're gonna start Charles at tight end," Orgeron said on Wednesday. "He's gonna be a run-blocking tight end and an excellent player. We have two good tight ends coming in with TK (McClendon) and Charles (Turner), a run-blocking tight end."

LSU will lose starting tight end Foster Moreau after the Fiesta Bowl. Jamal Pettigrew, Thaddeus Moss, Aaron Moffitt and Zach Sheffer are other tight ends on the depth chart, though none saw action in a game this season.

Turner will enroll at LSU in January.
