LSU's offense this year has been nothing short of incredible. They're one of, if not the top offense in the nation. In their last four games, the LSU offense has posted 49, 49, 48 and 62 points on the scoreboard.

After the Tigers 62-0 win over Army on Saturday, we got the chance to talk to Josh Williams about the Tigers offensive success this year. One of the first things he pointed out to us was how great the LSU offensive line has been playing this year and how it's enabled them be one of the best rushing offenses week in and week out.

"The offensive line has been great this year, it's a very tight-knit group. Will [Campbell], Emery [Jones] and Charles [Turner] have been leading the group great. Their mindset and attitude is physicality and they're taking the fight to the defensive line."

One of the other reasons this LSU has been so successful in the run game is because of their star studded backfield. Logan Diggs has been the main guy, but when players such as Josh Williams, John Emery and Kaleb Jackson are on the field, they can be just as explosive as Diggs.

Williams talked about the depth of their backfield and how having a mobile quarterback like Jayden Daniels helps their rushing attack be so successful.

"I just think we're very versatile with our triple option. We have Jayden [Daniels] who can also run the ball, we have a stable of running backs that's very athletic and very good, so I think that's a big deal for us."
Josh Williams

You can't have an offense as successful as LSU's unless all of your position groups are firing on all cylinders. The offensive line, wide receivers, running backs, tight ends and quarterbacks need to be on point at all times. The Tigers offense is currently in a zone where it feels like they can do no wrong. Williams spoke about the time and effort the Tigers put into their craft, and he says it brings them all a lot of joy to see their hard work paying off.

"It makes me feel really good. All the position groups take pride in putting a lot of time into their skills. The offensive line, the wide receivers, the running backs, the quarterbacks, they all come together and when it all comes together like that, it's beautiful and it's a joy because we put in so much time and effort."

Before Josh Williams was one of the lead backs in LSU's backfield, he was a walk on. In 2019 as a freshman, Williams was put on scout team, but he was there to witness the Tigers incredible season in which the team had one of the greatest offenses college football has ever seen.

Williams was asked if there were any parallels between the 2023 and 2019 LSU offenses, and he said he sees quite a few similarities between the two.

"We have a Heisman candidate quarterback for one. We have some dynamic athletes on the outside such as Malik [Nabers], Brian Thomas who are two of the best receivers in the SEC. Our O-line is pushing hard. We go really hard in practice and we're focusing on our process, so I feel like we trust in that and we let that show in the games, that's why we've been able to be so positive and explosive."
Josh Williams

That Heisman candidate quarterback Williams is referring to is none other than Jayden Daniels. The former Arizona State QB has been on fire this year and is putting up other worldly stats.

If you pay any attention to Daniels during a game, he never looks overly excited or nervous. I'm not saying he's on the same level as Joe Burrow, but they both seem to have the same attitude. They never let the moment get too big for them, and Williams says that calmness and relaxation under pressure helps the offense go in tough situations.

"What catches me off guard about Jayden [Daniels] is how he can stay so poised and calm throughout all the craziness that's going on. He can make a 65 yard play and he's as calm as anybody on the field. That's one thing, he takes the pressure really well and he calms the offense down."
Josh Williams

This Tigers offense has the potential to be one of the best in the history of LSU and college football. While it's unlikely they'll be able to surpass the 2019 LSU offense, they will still put up some mind boggling numbers by the end of the season.

If the offense can keep on doing what they're doing, they give this team a chance to win every game they play. We'll see where the season takes them, but I have one thing to say to LSU fans: Enjoy the rest of this season, because you never know how long it'll be until you see another LSU offense that's as good as this one.
